Belfast Lough Sailability Website

Project Description

Belfast Lough Sailabilty is a charity, based in Carrickfergus, committed to making it possible to sail whatever their disability. They wanted to update their old website to attract more people to become members and volunteers. I was asked to do this as I am a volunteer with them and they knew my experience in web design.

I began this project around December 2011, By February 2012 I had designed a more modern and clean design for them, this however was still being worked on and as technology evolved so did my skills. Due to the increased use of mobile devices I had to redesign the site yet again so that it was compatible across most devices.

Project Brief

  • Bring in more members and volunteers.
  • Accessible to those with visual impairments.
  • Clean, tidy and modern layout.
  • Specific pages: gallery page, news page, contact form, member area

This was one of the first websites I had created that was also responsive, this website has helped me further my technical and responsive web skills.

Through this I was awarded an RYA Youth Community Award in 2012 for my ability and dedication to helping others get out on the water, both through volunteering and through the dedication I had towards the website.
